GolfFreely grew out of our own frustration as beginner golfers.
When we first started playing golf, what we really wanted was simple: to get out on a course and find out whether golf was for us. We weren’t ready to join a golf club or go through a lengthy process before we could even start playing. But finding courses where we could play without a handicap certificate or other entry requirements turned out to be surprisingly difficult.
Because of that, there were even several periods when we stopped playing altogether.
That changed when we discovered Pitch & Putt. It gave us an easy way to get started and, most importantly, to play a lot. No complicated requirements beforehand — just the chance to experience how much fun golf can be.
After a while, though, we knew that one course pretty well. We wanted to play somewhere different, discover new courses and combine golf with a day out or a holiday.
And that’s when the searching started all over again.
Which courses can you play without a handicap? Where do you only need permission from the course? Which courses are close to you? And when you’re travelling somewhere else in Europe, where can you simply go and play?
The information seemed to be scattered everywhere. We had to visit course after course, read through their rules and try to work out exactly what applied to us. We couldn’t find one simple overview.
So we decided to build it ourselves.
We don’t think golf should only start feeling accessible once you’ve joined a club or earned a particular certificate. Of course, every golf course has its own rules, but there are far more places where you can play golf with fewer barriers than many people realise.
With GolfFreely, we want to bring those places together and make them as easy as possible to find.
Whether you want to try golf for the first time, play an occasional round, are away on holiday or simply want to discover a new course: there is often somewhere you can play.
Because in the end, we believe one thing above all:
Golf is for everyone.
